ron.... Well, as far as we can recall the ice receded about 8500 years ago and we began to feel the sunshine through the walls of the cave. We made a crude stone tool and began to tap on the walls until we found a rythym and the weakest point and after 521 days, 3 hours and 41 minutes we were able to break a hole large enough to scurry through. We wandered about the jungle, mostly in the trees to avoind the larger snakes, lizards and half monkeys, eating strange and psychedelic fruits much to our delight. Then, by the light of the second rarer moon we found the village and entered our initial tribe. We quickly learned the symbols of their language and studied under the aging shaman who blew stinging cactus dust and frog poison into our eyes to help us see. Leaving the earthly mental realm for months on end we learned his stories and pathways through time and place and settled here and there in existence when time allowed and need dictated. Here we were twins, separate, but the same and sharing a common eye and direction. Music was speech and action all in one and the future and the past were revealed to us slowly but no less clearly. When gradually the feathers of our mental wings fell away we descended back to find most of what we had left gone and replaced by a great many things that we understood but could not communicate about. Words failed us but music remained so we blew the flute and beat the drum and the newer animals who we had not known before came and danced and told us the language we did not know in the blue starlight. Horse and hedgehog, painted jaguar and slow and solid tortoise stayed and told us of camel and the Genie who howled in the vast deserts to the West. We followed their cries on the dry wind and found all we had sought there under the crackling sun. Wars were fought to the North and the victors came and asked us to perform but they had not ears to hear what we said. So instead we gave them up to those who had come before and they were satisfied and went back to find more to conquer leaving us and the river and the few animals who had not been taken back in the transaction. We grew tall and thin and changed colors many times as we saw fit and soon went among the stars and planets and astral winds to get a different view of it all. It was high and cold and extreme but to our liking for many years until the salty winds of the sea called us back and we obliged. Many many years came and went and returned but we stayed the same although looked very different. The trees taught us to stay alive despite the changes all around us and that the machines that made so many changes to our world could be forgotten if we stood still enough. Those days were slow and breathlessly still but roared with progress and chemicals and paper and we heard the sounds and saw the lights and were amazed at how much it looked like what we had seen so many days before. Soon others came and asked for what we had and we gave it all day after day. More and more wanted less and less and it finally all came to zero which seemed the best number of all from what we had been taught. The drum still played and many other sounds were abundant and we wove them all up tight and playful so that our friends had many things to hold and hide away. Then, one clear, cool morning we walked out of that place and came to be here, with you, and now our days pass as they always have, with you, as one, as ron. welcome to ronnaroo!!
