This is a story about ambition, challenge and courage. About five friends who were not afraid to throw down the gauntlet to the society and say no to the artificial forced and brainless cliché, what exhausted music factories are overloaded with today. They formed a band not to become famous or provide fresh soundtracks for TV ads, but to write powerful songs that are able to reach peoples hearts. To create music with real passion and honesty. To unleash souls. To undress imagination. To remind the world about things that make this life worth living.
Being based out of resort-like posh San Diego, a mecca of Ed Hardy shirts, glitter and turntables. Five friends have learned very quickly and very well how hard it is to get any recognition when you think “outside of the box”. Surrounded with the stereotyped music genres the city produced over the years, five men were refusing to give up. In fact it only made them become more determined. While performing in opposite bands and shedding blood together on the same stage, they were dreaming and hoping that one day they would be able to make music together in a band that would bring a sonic fire into the city, the band they would be proud to tell their offspring about.
“The Suicide Chords” had been born.
This band is a product of combining passion of music with close friendship. All five members grew up in different cities, and each had brought something very unique and authentic to the band. All different, all very close and all talented… With a wide range of influences from soul, classic rock, metal, hip-hop and jazz, they were able to create a powerful, amazing machine of musical fury, that cuts the air like lighting filled with incredible positive energy.
Their songs contain many different levels. Just like the band members rebellious hearts, the songs refuse to fit into an offered frame boldly and courageously. The “The Suicide Chords” are not interested to be pigeonholed sonically; they also remain abstract lyrically, preferring to express themselves more in a stream-of-consciousness fashion. Under rough tattoos there are souls. Which in a duet with incredible talent, make instruments cry when they cry and scream when they scream… and make listeners experience the whole spectrum of new or perhaps forgotten emotions.
