The Ugly Club is a diverse and ever-growing project of musical ideas and stylings. Founded by Ryan Egan, Taylor Mandel, Ryan Mcnulty, and Michael Sue-Poi, the group immediately began collaborating on song writing and arranging, bringing together unique musicality and songwriting skills to create a refreshing style of indie-pop rock. The Ugly Club was formed under an open minded, “anything goes” mentality and it has worked out to create the most original sounding music possible. Think: Ray Charles meets The White Stripes meets The Beatles! Bringing together various NJ horn players like Walter Wagner and Ike Ejiochi, NJ songwriters Matt Madurski and Andrew Delia, and bassist Adam Swider, the Ugly Club has really tapped into a beautifully, original sound. The players involved come from NJ based groups such as The Command Radio, Socratic, Beale Street Love, and The Talking Machine, all of whom have dominated the stages and airwaves of New Jersey for years.
