Tim Kough first picked up a guitar in 1979 at the urging of a friend to portray John Lennon in a Beatles band for the high school talent show. He began writing music shortly thereafter primarily using it to express melancholy meanderings in response to unrequited love. While pursuing an acting degree at Illinois State University he continued his explorations in songwriting and upon graduation was commissioned to write the score for Malissa White's play A Letter For Jacob. After moving to Chicago in 1987 Tim formed the band A Lone Pope with Rich Logan and they played various venues in Chicago until 1992. Tim continued performing solo and hosted an open stage at Sheffield's for six years until moving on in 1996. During this time Tim continued his acting career in Chicago playing featured roles in productions for Trinity Square Ensemble, A Wild Life Theatre Company and the European Repertory Company among others. Tim also found work as a fight choreographer, director and also taught Screenwriting and Acting at Columbia College in Chicago. In 1998, during a period of self introspection, Tim decided that it was time to contribute something more to society than his art. He and his wife Nancy became licensed foster parents in Illinois and 14 days after receiving their license, were blessed to have Horace come into their lives in 2000. A couple years later sweet Sara was welcomed into their home as well. Both wonderful bundles have since been legally adopted by Tim and Nancy and bring daily affirmation to the beauty of life. For 8 years until the Spring of 2008 Tim's performances were limited to nightly sojourns into the basement to feed the songwriting and guitar jones. Friends often refer to the muse visiting Tim for quite frequently a song complete with lyrics will literally pour out of his mouth on the spur of the moment. Dreams and Demons is Tim's first formal recording venture and reflects on life struggles with self-examination, trials, addiction, recovery and affirmation. This record is only the beginning of this new adventure and Tim has plans to return to the studio in the winter 2008-2009 to record a follow up to this record.
