He has earned the attention from so many readers that has a love for poetry. During his high school years he joined a poetry club and held the position as President. He used to gather with other students for poetry readings at local cafes etc. Jimmie attended Nathaniel Kelly High School, in Chicago, IL and graduated in 1974. During his high school years he participated in football and basketball. Then he decided to go to Alabama State University while enlisted in the Marine Corp. His major was Journalism and Literature he graduated in 1981. After returning from the service he moved to Waukegan, IL and has lived there for 34 years. Out of 14 siblings, James is number 7. James began his writing career at 7 years old, which there were several authors that have inspired him to get a jump-start on his gift. James wrote and published his first book called "Deep Thoughts of Love" in March of 2007. Then he wrote a children book called "Little Kitten in the Tree" which was inspired by his grandson but never published. In 2003, James decided to move to Texas, where he decided to share his gift with others by performing Spoken Word at various clubs in front of an audience. In March 2009, he published his second book called “Love’s Flight". He has also added his poetry in audio with music.
