At the age of 10 Trumpet Grrrl played her first note on the trumpet and hasn’t put the horn down since. At the age of 10 Trumpet Grrrl played her first note on the trumpet and hasn’t put the horn down since. Despite a lack of natural talent on the instrument, she practiced hard and joined many youth music programs. As a result she, performed with the National Symphony Orchestra, played at Carnegie Hall and met many well renowned classical musicians. Trumpet Grrrl then went to study at The University of Maryland with Chris Gekker. During her last semester of college in 2008 she started the rock band La Coterie where she stumbled into the position of front woman and began to develop her vocal, song writing and keyboard abilities. In the spring of 2010 she decided to start a solo project and took on the name Trumpet Grrrl. She began recording “The Basement Tracks;” a low budget demo all made in a home studio basement, in August of 2010. She creates a truley unique blend of music, blending her trumpet playing with her low and soulful vocals into a sound that is her own.
