Born and raised in Lagos, Nigeria, Tamara F Solomon arrived upon the city of Dallas in December 2002 to attain her B.S. in Architecture at the University of Texas at Arlington. Creative by nature, it would be inevitable that Tamara would begin seeking additional endeavors to stack upon her already monumental achievements but to also appease her creative appetite. An active force of the African Students Organization, she not only served as secretary but also began spreading her wings as a dance choreographer, vocal performer at numerous UTA events and award winning fashion show coordinator taking home the first place prize at Baylor University’s Annual ASA Global Extravaganza. In 2005, the other side of the world of fashion came calling and Tamara Solomon began stalking the runways of a lengthy string of fashion shows and gracing the images of well known Dallas photographers such as Tim Corey, Paco Romero and Oliver Martinez . Motivated by the belief that music is the most powerful form of communication, Tamara’s goal is to make meaningful music to touch lives. “If I help one person through a situation or put a smile on someone’s face I feel my job is done”. Coming from a musical family with a father who was a Nigerian musician (vocalist and guitarist) and a mother devoted to a Christian choir, Tamara always knew music was her path. With influences such as Mariah Carey, Tracey Chapman and India Arie to name a few, her sound can be described as Acoustic/pop/soul with an African flair. “I don’t think I sound like any one artist but a combination of all my influences”. Always being a music lover Tamara began writing songs at twelve playing the guitar at sixteen and decided after graduating College in August 07 to pursue her music dream. She is well on her way under the wing of well known Dallas band Common folk and is currently working on her debut album.
