Ty Audronis is an indie singer/songwriter and performer, currently residing in the San Francisco Bay Area. Ty fell in love with music upon trying his first instrument, an alto saxophone in 7th grade. Fueled by a passion and thirst for music, Ty proceeded to teach himself an additional 11 instruments. Four years later, Ty bought his first real keyboard (A Yamaha DSR-2000). At a feverish pace, Ty learned how to play keyboards, synthesize, sample and sequence. Boasting “a song a day” for the first several years of owning the Yamaha, Ty (through the use of the sequencer built in) learned to compose music. Ty attended CSU Chico as a music recording arts major. While there he formed the band “Hanis” with his partner in music (Doug Hanes). The band was fairly successful booking several gigs along the upper North-West and performing live as well as giving interviews on radio stations. In 1992, the band split and Ty joined the Navy. It was while stationed in Japan that he discovered his next keyboard “baby”, a Kawai. After his career in the Navy, Ty briefly considered forming another band but decided to remain a solo recording artist, and bought his first recording system (a Fostex 4-track). Since that time, Ty has settled on Roland as his keyboard manufacturer of choice (having owned an XP-80, JV-1010 and several other modules in the past). He currently uses a Fantom-x, JP-8080, MC-909, and records using Pro-Tools (M-Powered, LE, and HD). In addition, Ty plays guitar, and his prize possession is a “Frankenstein” guitar put together by Wayne Charvel (guitar designer for ZZ-Top and other artists) from pieces in his shop. “I would not trade that Frankenbeast for a Gibson Les Paul... not even the Gothic edition,” he says to anyone he shows the guitar to. Currently, Ty records his own music, and scores for visual media. He also creates advertising music beds and jingles. In his “day job”, Ty is a videographer, animator and editor (which he loves as he gets to score his own productions).
