Uncle Dad and the Family Secret were formed in March 2008. After a few line up and name changes, Uncle Dad decided to keep being a Pop Punk 3 Piece and became dedicated. Within 6 months of meeting drummer Amanda, they began booking local shows and it became time to step up to the studio. They met Rick Redington at a local open mic, and he immediately offered them a spot in his studio and as much support as he could. With the release of the first self titled full length album, Uncle Dad is ready to take on the World. Uncle Dad is Influenced by the 90's and enjoys the fun songs that were on the radio then. Uncle Dad strives to capture that fun every time they take the stage. With Originals ranging from joke love song ballads, to angry metal/hardcore thrashes, to catchy pop punk, and Covers that not every cover band plays, Uncle Dad will bring fun to your event. Reviews: Published: January 15, 2009 in the Rutland Herald "How could I pass up writing a blurb on a band named Uncle Dad & The Family Secret? Especially when the first thing I saw on their MySpace page was the quote, "We're a drinking band with a punk rock problem." I actually caught this power trio a while back at an Open Mic at C.J.'s. They looked prepared to rock and they definitely did. I was particularly impressed with the drummer, Amanda, who also sat in with versatility, for a few other acts on the kit. There are five tracks and a video clip on their site. Sadly the recording quality is a little rough. I only say this because I recognized a song I really liked, "She Never Showed Up," and remembered really digging it live. While I understand there's a certain "nuance" to having some screaming/rough quality to punk lyrics, I know that Kyle can sing and it would have been nice to hear it. The video is worth checking out for guitarist Jake's impressive solo. Uncle Dad has a few shows on the horizon. Add 'em to your friend's list and check 'em out live when you get a chance.
