VAUDEVILLE is an alternative pop-rock band that erupted onto Newcastle’s music scene in late 2007. With inspiration from the likes of Karnivool, Foo Fighters and The Police, VAUDEVILLE’s contagious melodic rock is distinct and fresh. Each member contributes their own unique ingredients thus creating the infectious pop-rock that is VAUDEVILLE. 2008 was a massive year for the Novocastrian rock outfit. Notable accomplishments include the release of their self-titled EP, Triple J airplay and support slots with several distinguished Australian bands - The Butterfly Effect, Grinspoon, Birds of Tokyo, Cog, and The Dirty Secrets. VAUDEVILLE has earned themselves the reputation of one of the hardest working bands around. This comes as a result of relentless touring of Australia’s East Coast, clocking up over 70 gigs since their formation. Adding to their previous competition successes, (Resonate 2007, Jaeger Uprising 2008) VAUDEVILLE were runners-up in the vastly publicized Toohey’s Extra Dry UncharTED band competition. After winning the public vote, they were pipped at the post by Brisbane outfit – Kate Bradley and the Goodbye Horses. Big Day Out creator, Ken West, awarded a runner-up prize – a spot on the Sydney Big Day Out Bill - for the first time in the competition’s history. VAUDEVILLE hit the recording studio at the end of 2008, working with well renowned producer Kalju Tonuma (The Living End, Split Enz) to record their single “Running on Empty.” This will be released early 2009 followed by a string of shows on the East Coast.
