If proof be needed that guitar jazz music is indeed an international language, tune into the Victor Borilov (artist's name - Vic Boreal) Quartet. From Glasgow's twin-town in the Soviet Union of Rostov-on-Don, the Vic Boreal quartet is one of the Eastern Europe's premier jazz outfits, and has quickly gained a world-wide reputation
Vic Boreal is a highly individual composer and virtuoso guitar jazz player who played in Glasgo in 1988 for the first time. The quartet plays jazz-rock in a highly contemporary vein which covers the spectrum of latin rhythms to heavy funk, by way of the blues. For many years the Soviet authorities considered jazz to be a subversive form of musical expression - we can only hope that such world-class players as Vic Boreal treat us Westeners to more of their subversive sounds - "Glasgo International Jazz Festival Magazine,1991"
Brilliant virtuoso guitar jazz player, performer, arranger and composer, the winner of the International jazz festivals.
