ViRAGO ViRAGO is Amy Schindler and Maire Tashjian. Their music is as an edgy rock sound with elements of American blues and Afro-Brazilian samba. ViRAGO ViRAGO is Amy Schindler and Maire Tashjian. Their music is as an edgy rock sound with elements of American blues and Afro-Brazilian samba. They perform at theaters, colleges, bars, festivals, coffeehouses, private parties, Weddings, cruises and LIVE-radio and TV appearances. They have opened for well known artists including Sophie B. Hawkins, Amber, and Sonia and Disappear Fear. They were recently interviewed by CURVE magazine. GO NYC magazine featured ViRAGO as part of “The Very Best of NYC.” Their performances include The Stone Pony and internationally at Salvador, Bahia, Brazil. The New York Council on the Arts recognized ViRAGO for their recording “Here Be Dragons.” Their music is available online at i-tunes and CD Baby. They are music educators and present multicultural, educational percussion program, including workshops, after-school programs, interactive school assemblies, community drumming circles and in-service programs for educators and facilitators. Ms. Schindler earned a BFA in music from Long Island University. She is certified to teach in New York and New Jersey. Ms. Tashjian studied performing arts at the County College of Monmouth. She studied a variety of drumming styles at The Drummer’s Collective in Manhattan, including Afro-Brazilian, West-African, Haitian and Afro-Cuban.
