Tika Simone is more than just a Canadian artist, singer-songwriter, actress, host, and T.V personality. Born and raised in Oakville Ontario she is an absolute flare of oomph and liveliness who leaves a lasting impression on anyone lucky enough to cross her path, but more importantly she lives and breathes music.
Widely known for her breakthrough and comical role in Trey Anthony’s acclaimed original play “Da Kink in My Hair” as well as frequent appearances on the panel of MTV’s “The After-show”, Simone is also an unyielding musical connoisseur. Graduated in 2002 from the ‘Etobicoke School of the Arts’ in Toronto Canada as a Music Theatre & Violin Major, Simone is a 1st Chair Level 6 Violinist and a trained Pianist. Her vocal and musical abilities as an r&b/electro hip-pop artist have been unmistakably manifested in her current mix-tape titled “The weird authentic”, the very first exclusive project created by producer Larry Gates, formerly of the production group Trackmasters and the son of Roger Troutman of the renown group ‘Roger and Zapp’; and will be further displayed in her upcoming projects scheduled for release early next year.
With a sturdy background in music and performing arts Simone professionally began her endeavours in music as a registered songwriter in 2002 and is currently actively involved in and the co-founder of professional song writing company “The Filling” established early 2011. In July 2010 she pioneered an interactive open-mic special, the only one of its kind, titled “Intimate & Interactive” catering towards some of Canada’s biggest music enthusiasts and artists. Many of the country’s current and upcoming musical talents have been featured on Simone’s stage before some of Canada’s key musical and cultural figures as members of the live audience; solidifying her role as a key figure within the Toronto entertainment and music industry. As Simone’s efforts in establishing musical progression both locally and at an international level continue, she is committed to launching other similar outlets of musical expression for music devotees of all walks of life. Her latest project is titled “The Known Unknown” and will be serving as a breakthrough platform for some of the best of what Toronto has to offer musically.
Simone’s debut single titled “Do it when the rest won’t”, off of her much anticipated project “The weird authentic” released September 12th, serves as a brilliant indication of her unique voice, as well as her distinctive resonance and personality as a developed artist. While her vocation as an ambassador and creator of music has been well established, her image and sound as a new artist is being unleashed to make a very durable impression in order to gracefully provide what this generation has been missing tunefully.
