If you take the quirkiness of 80s pop, mix it with the aggressiveness of current alternative music, and top it off with am undeniable pop sensibility you'll find Wake Hollywood. Not a newcomer to the music industry, the Ohio band has been through a rollercoaster of a ride since their formation in 2006. Barely out of high school, Wake Hollywood immediately started attracting major attention after selling 1000+ copies of their debut EP. A huge local following and tours all over the east coast followed soon after. The band was offered a deal with Universal Records imprint named "Rust Records", and signed right away. Although it gave them their first glimpse of success, they soon found out that the dying label was folding into a country label a few months later. Wake then took some time to regroup before starting to write what would become their debut record. These demos caught the attention of TQ management (Forever the Sickest Kids, Red Car Wire, Vanilla Ice). TQ put them in the studio with producer with Geoff Rockwell to record their record. Due out this April, they are titling the album Bang Bang Baby. The title shares the name of the impossibly dancey first track, which kicks the record of with a bang. "We decided that we needed to set ourselves apart, and i think we accomplished just that," says singer Evan McKeever. "We wanted to make a record that sounded like nothing else going on, but still maintain a pop sensibility to attract radio play." The record explodes from the take off and takes the listener on a ride through emotions of love, hate, hope, but never manages to take itself too seriously. This is very evident in the bands live show, which thrives on interaction from the audience. "We just want people to have fun with our music," says bassist Ian Struhar. "There's no bigger rush than feeding off their energy." The band is set to release Bang Bang Baby in early April with a tour to support. Even though they have been through so many ups and downs, there is no sign of them slowing down anytime soon. Surely it won't be long before they take over the hearts and Ipods of music lovers everywhere.
