Wandaliz Colon is a new, unique and innovative artist that offers a refreshing break from the music industry in its present form. Her ability to sing multiple styles of music on one album makes the audience feel as though they are listening to multiple artists, singing multiple genres of music similar to a mixed CD. Her capacity to do so makes Wandaliz a different type of artist, not only in her approach to music but her vocal delivery as well. Wandaliz Colon grew up in the small town of Edgewood, Maryland and on February eighth she began her quest for the spotlight modeling in front of the camera. Even as a baby the camera loved her and she certainly loved the camera. At the tender age of seven, Wandaliz found her love for the stage as a Barbizon Model and during the many beauty pageants she competed in. However it was Whitney Houston’s song “One Moment in Time” that inspired the young artists love for music and songwriting. Growing up in a Puerto Rican family gave Miss Colon an appreciation for music and dance " I'll never forget how my little brother and I use blow everyone away at parties with our Merengue and how we would try to imitate the movie "Dirty Dancing", we would have been awesome dance competitors”. In Wandaliz young career she has an impressive list of performances from film to stage. In High School she found her love for acting, and since she has turned that experience into doing educational films for SHS Productions and local indie films. She has also done film work for the National Institute of Health along with other theatre workshops, touring companies and voice over’s for various production companies. Wandaliz has enjoyed all of the fabulous film work she's done but working on the set of "Women in Dental Research" for NIH was most rewarding since this film was targeted to empowering females as young as ten to pursue a male dominant career “It was also great fun using a green screen and playing many different characters". Wandaliz is also very socially active, this mixed with her incredible looks, warm personality, great performances and a heart of gold make her a unique artist and catch for any record company in today’s market. What I feel is one of my greatest accomplishments, was as President of Spanish Honor Society, where I organized a charity dance to raise money for the American Red Cross relief aid in El Salvador after a disastrous earthquake. It was a total success and nothing would make be happier to be powerful enough one day to make great change in the world like helping those in EL Salvador." However Wandaliz is now well on her way to realizing that dream after co-founding the nonprofit organization Just Because Foundation raising money and awareness for Colon Cancer, Breast Cancer and Lupus. When asked about her musical offering Wandaliz stated " Well I felt like I was taking a big risk by doing many different styles of music on my first cd but I love music and I honestly felt that being able to sing and write different genres sets me apart from any other artist/songwriter out there.” However, for her second album she decided to go with a more pop/rock feel with the exception of the song Walking Contradiction. A hot reggaeton track, inspired by numerous people in the industry who said her first CD contained too many styles. When asked about her favorite genre of music she responded “I love Latin pop but I also like to mix it up with some edgier music. That is why I adore Shakira; we have some of the same taste. Overall though; I just love good, meaningful and well-written songs… maybe that’s why I can’t limit myself to one genre. " Currently Wandaliz is working on promoting her music and the Just Because Foundation. In the studio Wandaliz is still growing and expanding her horizons as a writer and singer; experimenting with more soulful R&B and Blues sounds. She is also looking forward to hearing her first published song “Don’t Look Back” in a dream works movie due out next year. Proof, that she is undoubtedly a multi talented young lady with a lot to offer the music industry today. It still goes without saying, her fun loving heart and spirit put Wandaliz in category on her own and wishes for the opportunity to perform for the troops during these upcoming Holidays.
