CHAPTER 1: WASTING STARLIGHT In the early January of 2009, in Oconto Falls, Wisconsin, Alex Lord and Trevor Teigs, were collaborating on a musical group with Alex on guitar, Trevor on bass, their friend Collin Beaumia on drums, and another friend David Fritz also on guitar, with no vocalist. The "band" was named Sulfuric, and after one practice, proceeded to fall apart. Alex and Trevor still wanted to pursue music in a local setting, so they talked to Alex's older brother Jeff about doing vocals in a Heavy-Hardcore band, and he agreed. Soon after they grabbed local drum doctor Hunter Larsen, and that is how Wasted Starlight was formed. CHAPTER 2: A BASEMENT AND A VAN So after having a few practices as a four piece, and writing their first song "Lyrics In Notebooks", in the church next to Alex's and Jeff's house, an acquaintance of the band, Matt Cassel approached and asked to play rhythm guitar and join the band. He said his parents were cool and would let them practice in their basement, and that he had a van. They fell for the van, and let him in. After he learned Lyrics, they covered an Anberlin song, and rewrote a really old song of Jeff's, they set their eyes on their first show. CHAPTER 3: CRIVITZ BATTLE OF THE BANDS AND AFTERMATH They went and signed up for a local battle of the bands in Crivitz on March 27, 2009. After two practices, they felt ready to take on the world! They played a bad 3 song set, and never placed in the standings. Afterwards they somehow ceased to practice anymore for a few weeks, and eventually that turned in to the whole month of April, 2009. Soon all of the band began having doubts about the progress of Wasted Starlight. June rolled around, and Jeff was having problems with his job, Hunter was deeply into his pop-punk band Xero Xposure, Alex was leaving for Menominee, Matt was removed from the band because the direction his life was going was strictly downhill, and Trevor was left in the wreckage of the band he had. Everything seemed to be turning for the worst. CHAPTER 4: REFORMING AND RECORDING Time slowly moved on, as it always does. But about halfway through July, Alex came back from Menominee, and a week long music festival, and wanted to deeply indulge in music, so he began writing and recording rough tracks of riffs and beats he had come up with. Jeff came home and announced that he got a new well paying job, and listen to the tracks. He quickly tossed some vocals onto the demo songs, Alex added an acoustic song they wrote together, and Alex's girlfriend made amazing artwork for them, based on a wedding invitation, coining the name "You Are Cordially Invited To". Alex called up Trevor and Hunter, who was having troubles with Xero Xposure at the time, organized a date for them to meet at the church by his house, and showed them the 5 track demo CD. They learned all of the songs, and practiced them for the first time. CHAPTER 5: THE RETURN OF FRITZ Shortly after the demo release, sadly Trevor decided that playing bass in a metal band wasn't the type of musical career he wanted to pursue. With no hard feelings, Trevor left the band when they were sure they had a replacement. And did they have a replacement! Earlier in Chapter 1 we mentioned David Fritz in Sulfuric as a guitar player, but he started playing bass first, so with no bass player, David was thje first one they called, and it was a hands down vote. David Fritz was the new permanent bass player of Wasted Starlight. He learned all of the songs in time to play at the Gillett Hillside Assembly of God Lock-In, and rocked the show. As far as Trevor was concerned, it was the perfect four piece for Wasted Starlight, and he congradulated David on acceptance. Wasted Starlight will continue to make music as long as the fans allow, so please support us buy buying our $3 Demo CD "You Are Cordially Invited To". Thank You,.. WASTED STARLIGHT
