Only a month after his high school graduation, guitarist Phill Vilenski moved to Los Angeles. He soon crossed paths with Mitch Arnold, a songwriter who had moved from Indiana one year prior. The two immediately became best friends and spent their time writing songs and performing on the streets and beaches of Los Angeles and Orange County.
Over the course of two years their scene went from street corners to coffee shops and bars, and grew to clubs and larger venues. At this point long time friend and fan Dean Pizzazz offered to give up his steady job, quit college, and learn to play the bass to join the duo. That kind of commitment and dedication is still a major ingredient in what fuels Whiskey Circus today. The boys recorded an EP with legendary producer Andy Johns (Rolling Stones, Led Zeppelin, Van Halen) in 2005, but still had no permanent drummer. After nearly 60-70 auditions, a VHS tape arrived in the mail with drummer Tyler Coburn introducing himself and perfroming a song he had learned from the first Whiskey Circus EP.
Shortly after sending the tape Tyler moved from his hometown in Michigan leaving behind a corporate sales job, college classes, and long time girlfriend to be the fourth and final member of Whiskey Circus.
The band currantly lives in Los Angeles CA, and is writing and recording songs with Producer Mike Gurley and Engineer Florian Ammon, while always performing energetic live shows, with a goal to elevate souls with a high voltage modern spin on vintage rock n roll.
