I was born in 1978 in the city of Marion in the count of Marion in the state of SC.  I moved to Raleigh, NC in 1989.  At the time my mother didn’t want to raise my 3 siblings and me.  She moved to Georgia and took my younger brother with her.  My older brother stayed in SC with one of my aunts and my sister and I lived with an aunt in Raleigh.  It was only a year before my mom moved back to SC and my sister decided she didn’t want to stay in Raleigh anymore.  I stayed.  Even at such a young age I knew what was best.  My aunts were very hard on my sister so I understood why she wanted to go back to Marion.  It was OK with me because it was only a 2 hour drive and I got to go to Marion as often as I liked.  I guess that was the best part about it.  The two cities were so close that it was almost as if I lived in both.  I traveled home to Marion at least once a month and I was there during school breaks and a good portion of the summer.  I loved them both equally.  The difference was this, Marion was poor and Raleigh was well off.       Music and poetry have been in me since I was very young.  I remember writing my first poem in first grade.  I remember how my teacher had expressed her satisfaction with my work.  It made me feel good.  I didn’t really think that I’d still be writing poetry (rhymes) to this day.  I remember writing my first rap in 7th grade.  It was a rendition of LL Cool J’s “Eat em up L”.    I didn’t write another rap/rhyme until my senior year in high school.  Before then I thought R&B was the thing, but discovering hip hop was another level.  I remember me 2 of my friends went to audition for the soundtrack for this low budget film and ended up getting cast for the film as well as being a part of the soundtrack.   I also remember getting fired once college started because I didn’t have a car and I couldn’t get back to Raleigh to do the filming.  It was a good learning experience.  The fact was the low budget film turned out to be a no budget film and so I really didn’t miss out on too much in the end anyway.       While I was in college at ECU, I really began to get into music.  I met a group of emcees known as Grass Roots Organization.  I remember going to my first open mic at Peasant’s night club.  It was the beginning of a long road.   From there I would go into the studio with E Hood and Nasty.  These were 2 of my first producers.  It was Tim, Drue and I; we were known as Tri-State Faculty.   As time passed I felt Drue and I were on the same level but Tim wasn’t and so it just became me and Drue and we were known as Duo… (Do unto others…)   As Duo… we had 2 releases.  Come On In Vol 1 which was a mix tape and Bad Boyz On Deathrow which was an official release with Amazon.com We’ve had the privilege of performing on nearly every available stage in the triangle area.  From Kings to the Cats Cradle; from Local 506 to the Berkeley Café, I’ve shared  the stage with artists such as 9th Wonder and Little Brother, Ike and Shyst, Jozeemo, Shelly B, Tyfu, and Livestock to name a few.      Things changed and over time we began to go our separate.   To this day Drue and I remain close friends and we even speak about doing music together again, but it’s mostly a solo career now.  I just have the love for music that can’t be taken away.  It’s never really been about the money for me because I probably would’ve quit doing music a long time ago.  I’ve never taken the opportunity to try to get signed by traveling to the major music areas or sending off demos and things of that nature.  I’ve just always wanted to make good music and have the next song be better than the last song.  It hasn’t always been that way but most of the time I’m satisfied with the music.
