He was heavily influenced by the blues sounds of "Lightnin' Hopkins" and "Howlin' Wolf" as well as country artists such as Waylon Jennings. Ted immersed himself in the blues and country music of the region and in doing so, formed a friendship with the late Texas bluesman Willie Willis. He perfected the art of "sneaking back stage" to learn technique and tips on the blues harp from such notable players as Charlie Musselwhite, Sam Meyer (Anson Funderburg and the Rockets) and James Harman.   CLAY KING - Guitar and Vocals Clay "Bone" King was raised in Southern California and began his musical journey by playing classical violin in the fourth grade. He found a love for the guitar and studied jazz with Charlie Parker's sax player, Warne Marsh as well as Jazz Virtuoso Joe Pass and Jimmy Wyble (Bob Wills and the Texas Playboys). His musical influences include Albert King, Lightnin' Hopkins and Stevie Ray Vaughan. Clay has shared the stage with blues greats Corey Stevens and Doug MacLeod. He continues to be one of the most "in demand" guitarists on the West coast and his performances with "The Ted Vaughn Blues Band" leave audiences spellbound. LEON-FORREST - Keyboards and Vocals  Leon formed his first band,"The Apollos" in the early 1960s. "The Apollos" backed up national acts and rubbed shoulders with performers such as "The Yardbirds" and Janis Joplin. The band often shared venues with "The Golliwogs" who later became "Creedence Clearwater Revival". He later formed the band "Firewind" which caught the attention of Gabriel Mekler, producer of "The Three Dog Night" and "Steppenwolf". Today, Leon makes music from Seattle to Nashville and also wears the hat of producer, engineer, studio musician and top dog at Harbinger Northwest Records.  TED LARSON - Bass Ted is a hard working bass player who has 23 years of experience under his belt. While playing for a number of successful bands, his most notable gigs were a duo called "Us Two", and the popular variety band "Canyon Fever". His major claim to fame comes from way back down in Northern California when we opened for a band called "The New Breed" who featured a young Timothy B. Schmidt, who later joined The Eagles. JOHN KING - Drums John King attended the Musicians Institute of Technology in 1983 to 1984 and has played drums with several musicians in the Los Angeles area including the L.A. Big Band. Since then, John has played and recorded with many groups in Oregon ranging in genres from rock to blues, funk to country. He lays down a mean groove and is proud to play with "The Ted Vaughn Blues Band".
