Young Skill is an 18 year old hip hop artist from Elizabethtown, Ky. Determined not to fall victim to the streets, as some of his relatives had, Skill focused on sports and writing rhymes just for fun. Influenced by the sounds of Tupac, Biggie and Bone Thugs N Harmony, He quickly developed an ear for good music. Born Jaron Skillman on April 12, 1990, to Paula J Skillman, a struggling single mother, Skillman was forced to become a man quicker than the boys around him. Not having a father figure in his life played a critical part in his music career and lifestyle. At the tender age of 10, Jaron wrote his first rhyme. Not serious about a music career, Skillman kept playing sports and freestyling with his friends for fun. Later, Skillman and long time friend Andre Calhoun formed ET's Finest (E-Town's Finest), Calhoun moved away freshman year in high school and the group separated. Skillman then pursued a solo career. He released his first mixtape his freshman year titled, "The Streets Is King," it flopped. Not discouraged by his peers hateful comments, Skillman kept writing and recording. Since then Young Skill has released numerous mixtapes and released an independently funded album titled, "I Am Hip Hop," which is available on CDbaby.com. Young Skill was named "Me Music Entertainment's" featured artist of Febuary 2009. He has also performed at venues such as his high school talent show winning second place to a first place skit, First Baptist Church's back to school bash in 2006 and the Ft. Knox Leaders Club in 2007. Jaron has also met celebrities such as Jermaine Dupri, Nappy Roots, Ludacris and more. Young Skill is a hardworking and talented teen ready to conquer the music industry. With his myspace over one million views, one million plays and 50,000+ friends the possibilities are endless.
