PlaySomething Divine

by The Blue Method

(Headphones)There was a review of this song on "garageband" where the woman said we may have created a new genre...Romantic Gospel. I thought that was a great compliment. Philly love all over this one. Peace to Luke O'Reilly for the organ intro and Natural Selection for background vox. Enjoy the horns and the sax solo/bridge. Shakera Jones vamps out with me at the end.

So far, I think this is the ONLY song in this category (that I've heard so far) that actually IS Soul..Nice!!

We aim to keep it soulful. This song isn't about bangin' up in the club. It's about soul and love. And that's why you hear instruments; drums, bass guitar, guitar, alto saxophone, baritone saxophone, and organ. It's shocking how many songs in the "soul" and "r&b" categories don't have live instrumentation...especially organ. Soul music, in my humble opinion, shouldn't have any auto-tune. And it's not all about vocal acrobatics. I heard Luther Vandross once said that all that "running and riffing" doesn't mean so much if you can't hit pure notes. And then musically, soul music has it's roots in the blues and gospel. I haven't heard much blues nor gospel that didn't come from live instrumentation instead of having been made on a beat machine. I hope I don't sound pretentious. I'm just a little confused by some of the pieces that have been entered in these catergories - Brian of The Blue Method
