My story really begins in 1998. Hungover, demoralized, and lost, I got down on my knees and dug my forehead into the carpet as far as it would go. "Dear Jesus, I have made a mess of my life. Please, please forgive me and heal me! I would do whatever you would have me do to the best of my ability!" Well, He did, and I am also, with His Grace. Not long after, I ran into an old friend, Mark Houston (the very talented Christian Singer/Songwriter), who asked me what it was like coming to faith after all these years. "Like stepping off the edge of a cliff, putting aside fear and doubt, and crossing over a bridge of air to God on the other side." "Bridge of Air -- There's a song in that!" he laughed. Two months later, I wrote "Bridge of Air" on old, dusty guitar that I was suddenly able to play, as though in a waking dream. Since then, I have written many songs, about faith, hope, love, life and death, joy and sorrow, salvation and redemption. Not praise and worship songs per se, just songs from the heart, be they rock, country, pop, or ballads. The recordings that I have posted on this website are very basic - me and an acoustic guitar, recorded live, a few years ago. I just finished putting together a home studio, so that I could produce my songs the way that I hear them in my head. I will be posting them as soon as they are done. Some people ask why I chose the stage name "SimpleSimon". It reminds me to be humble in the face of something so simple, yet profound, as believing in God and miracles. I remain just a simple man who has been blessed by the Holy Spirit to be a voice of encouragement and testament to faith. Thanks for your interest and support! SimpleSimon/ShellSimon
