The Black Coat Song

When I wrote "The Black Coat Song" I never thought I'd be able to play it live at my shows. It was so honest. It was the one song I couldn't hide behind. I couldn't say it was about something else-- it was clearly about "him": the black coat, the Dylan album, the girl at the bar. But somehow a song about my feelings of alienation started to connect people, so I played it so we'd all feel less alone.
