Holding Up The Sky

Genres

Singer/Songwriter (Female)

Description

When all the world feels like it's falling down around us, the safety of your arms helps me to realise the sky is still there and is not falling down. Music has been the force holding up my sky when all else has crumbled all around. The song is also about the power of music, dance, and rhythm to unite people, when prejudice and hatred divides. It is inspired by the words of Nelson Mandela: the the only way forward is to "forgive and forget".

Holding Up The Sky Lyrics & music by Juliana Meyer © 2006 Pen and paper, scratch the date on top One day later, that’s still all I've got Not a writer, not a connoisseur I’m a fighter, I have passion here But I’ll use it to make love not war We’ll abuse this power most ignore I refuse to be a hypocrite I refuse to let us lie in it If I hold you now We won’t hit the ground In your arms I’ve found It’s not as if the sky is falling down When I hold you now We won’t hit the ground In your arms I’ve found It’s not as if the sky is falling down We are here now in the present day And no hate can make that go away Through forgiveness we can forget the past But without it suffering will last I’m not a dreamer, I’m a realist This is the only way we can co-exist I have seen love in our dancing feet In the rhythm we can find the peace If I hold you now We won’t hit the ground In your arms I’ve found It’s not as if the sky is falling down When I hold you now We won’t hit the ground In your arms I’ve found It’s not as if the sky is falling down
