Musician/ multi percussionist & music producer / vocalist & actress Joanna Stroz was educated in Music Academy in Cracow and Carl Nielsen Academy of Music in Odense at soloist class of doc. Søren Monrad. She was one of the few to attract attention from both the press and The Danish Broadcasting Corporation, the latter doing an interview and a live recording with her. Joanna´s huge interest in different aspects of modern percussion has led her to experiment with rhythmical and improvising music. She has been fascinated in the heritage and musical roots of traditional drumming from Latin America and the Middle East. The mixture of her experience in classical, contemporary music field and her research in world and jazz music gives a unique style and new contribution to the interpretation in all her performances. J.S. has collaborated with Danish composers like Jesper Hendze and Erik Ørum Von Spreckelsen, who has written compositions to her crossover debut concert: Percussion Perspective Project. She has performed at L.V. Beethoven Easter Festival in Cracow, Early Music Festival in Stary Sacz, Nordic Percussion Festival in Odense, Musikhøst. Joanna has cooperated with Opera and Operetta in Cracow under performances of Krzysztof Penderecki´s operas: Ubu King and The Black Mask. Her present music life focus on cooperation with groups like: Duo Bugge/ Stroz, Via Artis Konsort Ensemble, Duo Angic Zorts. Joanna has been granted a Danish Government Scholarship, Erazmus Sokrates and Ernst Polaks Fundation. In October 2010 J.S. released her debut album “Nordic Wave” with Contemporary Percussion Music from Scandinavia. Reviews: “With Nordic Wave, Joanna is elevating percussion music to a new dimension.” by Distinguished university fellow, composer and principal timpanist of The Royal Danish Orchestra, Søren Monrad “Joanna Stroz is a rising star on the international percussion scene. Her musical breadth and technical perfection is deeply impressive. Take this opportunity to discover Joanna Stroz on this exciting and fascinating debut CD.” by Markus Leoson, solo percussionist and professor at the Hochschule für Musik FRANZ LISZT “Newly hatched percussionist Joanna Stroz and her CD, impressed with highly original compositions, that overflow with passion and unbridled energy, you sense the drawing of something big all the way though she really cares for the details. Joanna Stroz handles most of the music herself. A couple of tracks have other voices, but it is her thousands upon thousands of beats, that carry the burden the six new Nordic compositions. When Joanna Stroz lets her mallets fly across the vibraphone, one is exhilarated – by the sound alone” **** Politiken, 3th November 2010, Henrik Friis
