Luke hails from NapTown U.S.A., otherwise known as Indianapolis to the layman. While his career is just burgeoning he's been writing songs and singing since about age 4. He grew up in the small rural farming town of Tolono, IL, just south of the Champaign/Urbana area. His first composition dealt mostly with the brilliance of mixing peanut butter AND jelly, and his love for his parents. Growing up in a musical family and attending a church founded by praise song-singing Jesus People helped firmly establish him in a Folk Rock/Americana style. Beginning with an Alto Recorder and the masterpiece "Hot Cross Buns", Luke began his journey playing and experimenting with several different instruments. Focusing primarily on alto sax throughout his early educational years he started strumming guitar in the early 90's. His songwriting took a major turn in the late 90's during what he refers to as the "Post-Educational Years." After some brief secondary schooling in Indianapolis, the change from small town life to an inner-city urban setting, and working for his own keep changed the way he looked at life, and thus changed his music. It was during these rough transitional years that he decided to attempt his hand at the piano - asking God himself to teach him to play, since money was scarce and formal training bore no appeal to the impetuous young Beecham. And teach him God did. The keys have continued to be a source of inspiration as he continues to write. Bringing poetry and music together his music has slowly matured, dealing with the topics of death, life, marriage, love, sex, and God.
