Savannah Steve "the One Man Island Band" is a moniker that was developed during a gig in the early 1990's as musical host/ entertainer for a Caribbean airline. Prior to Savannah, somewhere around the mid 70's, Stephen began working professionally as keyboard/ vocalist for various Top 40, Wedding and Show bands, as well as becoming a local studio "cat" for some notable celebrities throughout the New York Tri State area. These stage and studio experiences became the foundation on which the contemporary "Savannah Steve" is able to earn a respectable living, providing musical entertainment in many facets, not only in Savannah, but also the surrounding Golden Isles along the Georgia coast, as well as the occasional long distance jaunt to Atlanta, Orlando and Disney World.
In spite of oober years of recording and performance experience, other than a somewhat random collection of contrived novelty tunes and spacey new age filler, Stephen has very little to show for in terms of recorded works, which is odd because recording and sound engineering is perhaps his first love in the music world. His best recording efforts usually shine forth while producing other peoples music. Fans, friends and family have been waiting a long time, a very long time for Stephen to come up with his final "masterpiece". It is to the point where most have given up waiting and don't ask anymore.
Here at OurStage.com Stephen is releasing as many works as can be found in the studio vaults for everyone to hear. Most of these recordings were intended for demo purposes only, which is most likely the case for many of the artists we hear on OurStage.
Perhaps through this portal Stephen will find support and inspiration from other artists in the music community. In the meantime, it will be another week of Hokey Pokey, YMCA, Chicken Dance and Cha CHa Slides, all done for the sake of the mighty buck. Help save Savannah Steve from this hellish fate!
