Story of the JacksThe Spring Heeled Jacks Original Swinging Jass Band is not really a band in a conventional sense. We've never played together live and our members live as far away as New Mexico. Most of our musicians, however, came from the Port Aransas TX I.S.D. My high school band teacher, Jim Cole, and his wife (and my choir instructor) Judy Cole were crucial for the successful completion of this project. Not only did they each donate hours of their time as instrumentalists, but also provided us with many of the connections to the other great players that were kind enough to give their time and their skills to this project. Without them, none of this would've been possible. Our dear friend Leah Matthews was not only our most frequently used musician, but also helped us network with many other young musicians here in Port A. We can't thank her enough. Every musician we brought into the studio was patient, kind, and gave it all they had. For all of you who played on these recordings, know that you are honorary members of the Spring Heeled Jacks and that you helped bring our crazy dreams to reality. Thank you all.This project would also not been possible without the Third Coast Studio in Port Aransas and it's stunningly kind and generous owners, Jim and Marlene Urban.
